Brief Riding History
Reining horse and break-away roping are my favorites. I am most skilled in western notably reining. Although, I do have substantial
experience in the English disciplines of Huntseat Eq, Hunters, and Dressage. Since I was ten years old I have been starting colts on my
family’s ranch. The ability to take a young horse that hasn’t had much handle and turn it into an accomplished horse that can be ridden
by anyone is a great feeling. This love for achievement and skill for training horses, which I learned from my mother, led me down the
road to success. I have had many horses over the last seven years of my life, all with different talents and levels of ability, but I learned
to show all of them and allow them to perform at their highest level.

Yes, I acquired youth points in reining at the AQHA shows I have attended. My main focus has been with NRHA.
Have you shown horsemanship or reining in open stock- type shows? Yes, I have competed in NRHA events since I
was eleven receiving multiple plaques and pewters in the youth, novice horse non-pro, limited non-pro, intermediate
non-pro, and the non-pro. When I was thirteen I qualified for the NRHA Adequan North American Affiliate
Championships (NAAC) in freestyle on Sassi Fly Britches aka Hershey. This was quite the experience for me and I
ended up seventh in the world.
Last year I qualified for the NRHA Affiliate Finals again. This time on Hershey's half sister Espressolina, which I
trained completely myself. It was her first show season so it was impressive that we did so great at the NRHA
Western Affiliate Finals. I qualified in the 14-18 youth, novice horse non-pro, limited non-pro, intermediate non-pro,
and the non-pro. In Oklahoma City at the NAAC I placed 2nd in the novice horse non-pro, 5th in the 14-18 youth,
6th in the intermediate non-pro, 7th in the non-pro, and 10th in the limited non-pro.

The Video above contains the following:
The first horse is a 9 year old rehab Paint mare (Annie) that hadn't
done any reining when I bought her. She had a lot of issues to work
out but ended up being nice. The video of her is a short clip of me
turning her in each direction.
The next horse is a six year old Quarter Horse mare ( Mesa) that is
a finished reining horse. I am performing a stock seat equitation
pattern on her at the Oregon High School Equestrian Meet. We
placed first at the meet.
The third horse is a 3 year old Quarter Horse gelding ( Willy) that
had sixty days on him in the summer of 2008. He had about 10 or
so rides on him off and on in 2009.
The video above is me showing Mesa at the Northwest
Regional Affiliate Finals in 2008. This was her 5th show
and it was her very first show season. The first run is the
Non-Pro and the second run is the Youth 14-18.

Horsemanship/reining qh/paint stock shows? I have actively participated in the reining at APHA shows both in
Missouri and Nationally. Points are recorded in the National office and Honor Roll awards according to these points.
I received the Honor Roll Champion in 2004 in Youth reining 13 & under and Reserve Champion Honor Roll in
Working Cow-Horse in 2008. I have not kept an accurate accounting of the exact number of blue ribbons each year.
I have helped 3 horses receive Superiors and Register of Merit levels in Reining, Working Cow-Horse and Roping.
Open Stock Type Shows details: I started showing in 4-H with both speed and pleasure ponies. These advanced to
horses and I have successfully placed in the top 5 at the State 4-H show for 10 years competing in speed events,
horsemanship, pleasure, trail and reining. I was awared the MFA saddle award in 2009 for my 4-H accomplishments.
Showing at a national level in the NRHA has improved my arena presence and delivery of the reining maneuvers. I am
currently ranked in the top ten in youth standings, second in the Heartland Saddle Circuit, first in the MRHA youth and
second in the SWMRHA youth.
