Courses offered: Albion is a private liberal arts college with a long-standing tradition. Founded in 1835, Albion gives students a
foundation in the liberal arts (sciences, humanities, social sciences, and the fine arts) with focus toward professional careers
through a collection of pre-professional institutes and programs. Pre-health professions (including pre-vet), business, law and
public policy, education, engineering, and the environment are highlights of the College's offerings. For future equestrian
professionals, Albion also offers international equestrian certification through the British Horse Society, which allows students to
supplement their bachelor's degree with practical, hands-on experience in the equine industry.

Riding description:
The Nancy G. Held Equestrian center, constructed in 2004, spans
340 acres at the south end of Albion's main campus and offers
student horse boarding with daily individual turnout. It also boasts an
indoor arena measuring 100' x 400', a grass show jumping field, and
miles of trails. School horses are available and are utilized by the
College's IHSA and IDA teams. Outside of collegiate competition,
Albion hosts an indoor winter show jumping series and takes
students to rated shows within the region (including USDF, USEA,
and USHJA shows).
Periodic symposia with internationally-recognized riders are also held.
Additional school info:
Albion's British Horse Society program is unique within the
Midwest and offers students a different approach to
professional equestrian development. In addition,
students are encouraged to pursue their education and
their riding at the highest possible levels.
